Scarlett Johansson is an American actor and singer who was born in NYC in the United States on the 22nd of November in 1984. Her acting has earned the attention of a broad range of genres including historical drama or thrillers, as well as action films. Johansson grew up within New York City as the daughter an architect and a production company. Her twin brother Hunter and she were her youngest siblings. When she was a child, she developed a passion for acting and began making commercial auditions around the age of seven. To enhance her skills, she attended classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan followed by at the Professional Children's School. In the age of eight, she starred alongside Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and, at the age of nine she made her first film appearance with Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was later seen in Just Cause (1995), however, her breakthrough occurred through Manny & Lo a coming of age movie about two sisters running away. The Horse Whisperer (1998), in which Johansson plays the role of a teenager with a disfigurement, was hailed by critics. Later she became known as the cynical teenager Rebecca in Ghost World. She took part in different projects throughout the USA as she made her debut on stage. She graduated from at the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
